Vacations On Your mfamily.com Site
|
Myfamily.com is a great place to share and store all of your family vacation memories. If you've got one planned for this spring or summer, here are some tips for creating an online scrapbook that the entire family can enjoy:
|
Plan It
Use the Events section of your myfamily.com site to schedule and announce your vacation. Tell everyone where you're going and when. You can also ask if anyone else on your site is interested in coming along, or see if anyone has been to the place you're visiting. They'll be able to recommend restaurants, nearby attractions or hotels.
Take Photos & Videos
Remember to pack your camera! Taking a lot of photos is the best way to preserve your vacation memories. Try taking a good mix of landscape photos, action shots of your activities and portraits of you and your family. A good variety of photos help capture the entire experience. Because most digital cameras are able to record video clips, you should be able to take video of your vacation as well.
Keep A Journal
Take some time to write about how you're spending your vacation. If you have access to the Internet during your vacation, you can post your journal to the Discussions section of your site and also upload photos. Others on your myfamily.com site will be able to read about your vacation while it's happening.
Put It All Together
Once you're back from your trip, you're ready to put everything up on myfamily.com. Start by uploading all of your vacation photos to your site and organizing them into albums. You can make one big album containing all the vacation photos, or make smaller albums for individual activities or locations. Then, add titles and descriptions for all the photos and albums. Don't forget to upload any video you may have taken, and if you weren't able to add to the Discussions section during your vacation, now's the time.
Once your vacation photos are on your myfamily.com site, you can use them to make prints, photo memory books, calendars and many other personalized creations. Visit the 'Gifts' section of your myfamily.com for more info.

How Do You Use myfamily.com?
submitted by:
Mel Lewis

"I first stumbled across myfamily.com while doing research on my family tree at Ancestry.com. Immediately, I fell in love with the site because my brother Fred and I had been trying various ways and sites to do just what myfamily.com was designed to do: share photos, news and family events. After having tried various other sites and getting spammed with questionable content, myfamily.com was a breath of fresh air. Not only do we have the whole family signing on, but I've started another site for friends and clients who have booked travel with me and want to have a safe place to share vacation photos."
